When used for packing polypropylene has the advantage of a higher softening temperature and can be used up to 80-90°C; it can be ignited but burns quite slowly. Polystyrene can be used up to 60°C; however, high impact polystyrene, if ignited becomes a hazard as it burns very rapidly and gives off toxic fumes.
