To merit the name of “ma1 de la Rosa,” this malignant crust must be attached only to the metacarpus or metatarsus on the hands or feet, so that no affliction of any kind, appearance, or condition whatever in this region can be given that name if these scabs do not form on the aforesaid parts. Therefore, though they may appear on the soles of the feet, the palms of the hands, the elbows, arms, head, face, belly, thighs, or legs, and though they may be red and rough, may appear as scabs or erysipelas (also called “rosa”),and though to these be added all the other symptoms distinctive of “ma1 de la Rosa,” in no wise may they be termed such if said scabs are not located on the metacarpus or the metatarsus.
